This makes so much sense! The brain is so complicated and we have so much more to learn about it.
To Patrick Henderson I say "Never say never!" You can pass your Math class and get your BA. You just haven't found the right teacher!!! Don't give up you are ONLY 62!!!

Thank you both for this excellent piece of vital information. I am 62 years old and just now getting around to completing my under-graduate degree. I cannot for the life of me understand why I can't get it, math, it is the storm in my flesh, it is an embarrasment to my mind.
I am a composer by profession, but never really learned to read music. My ears were so aurally acute that I have earned a decent living writing, producing and performing music all over the world.
You might be saying, but music is time and numbers? Not to me, music is life, to be rendered from the seat of the soul.
Nothing as finite as math could ever enter into the relm of such bliss.
I guess I fear I will never get my B.A., and somehow I'm disappointed in myself. I'm 62 years old, and I have never had to use polynomials for anything.
Well, thank you for listening to my writing, If you all have any suggestions, I'm all EARS?
