Resurgens Charitable Foundation Funds Several “All-Abilities” Playgrounds Around Atlanta

Resurgens Charitable Foundation is all about creating “all-abilities” playgrounds.  The Foundation has funded eight playgrounds in the Metro area since its inception in 2001 with special play structures where all children, regardless of their abilities, can play together.

“It’s very rewarding to be able to donate these all-abilities playgrounds to local parks so all children will have an opportunity to play and be kids,” said Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick, president of the Resurgens Charitable Foundation.  “We look forward to helping bring many more of these to the metro area…Our main goal at the Foundation is to keep children active and healthy.”

Resurgens Charitable Foundation, whose mission is “to promote active lifestyles for people of all ages and all abilities,” was formed in 2001 with a fund raising effort in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11th.  Since then, it has evolved to focus on youth health and fitness, and raising funds to build specially designed “all abilities” playgrounds for children in the metropolitan Atlanta area, with a major goal of supporting construction of at least one of these playgrounds a year.

Following is a list of the playgrounds and facilities made possible with help from Resurgens Charitable Fund:

  • Hammond Park, Fulton County, GA – 2003
  • Unity Place at Bay Creek Park in Grayson, GA – 2003
  • Kedron Park, Fayette and Coweta Counties, GA – 2005
  • Peachtree Ridge Youth Association/Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation – 2008
  • City of Acworth Special Needs Park – 2008
  • East Cobb Park All Abilities Playground – 2009
  • DL Stanton Park, city of Atlanta – 2009
  • Lithia Springs Park, Douglas County, GA – 2010
