Kids CornerMy name is Meggie and I am 11 years old. I am going to tell you all about my learning disabilities. The reason I am going to tell about them is to help other students who have a hard time in school or need more help than others do. My difficulty is ADD [Attention Deficit Disorder]. ADD is a disability where kids or adults can’t concentrate and sometimes can’t remember things right away. For example, when I am doing my homework sometimes it takes me one hour just to finish one of my homework sheets. That’s not a thing to be embarrassed about, because a lot of people have problems along those lines. In fact, I really don’t care what other people think about my difficulties, because like I said, a lot of people have them. Someone in a person’s family might have a learning difficulty and if they are making fun of me then they’re making fun of a family member also. It might be hard to do this, but when you’re at school and someone is being mean to you say, “That’s right, I do have a disability but at least I am trying hard and studying and I’m not going to let anyone bully me about my disability again!” If that doesn’t work, just know that you’re trying your best, and it is not just you that needs help or has questions. Everyone in your class asks questions, so please don’t think it is a problem because it is not! Meggie
